The Los Angeles Lakers might have found a star in the making.

It seemed like all hope was lost for their team once LeBron James went out with his foot injury.

But, plenty of players have stepped up in James’ absence and are keeping their playoff hopes alive.

One of the best players on their team in recent weeks has been guard Austin Reaves.

The former undrafted free agent has stepped up in a big way for the Lakers of late.

Reaves is doing things on the court that have not been done before in the storied history of the Lakers.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, Reaves is the first undrafted player to average 30 points per game over a two-game span since 1966.

Reaves has been on an incredible run, and not just his scoring is helping the Lakers.

He has also been their best distributor of late, averaging 5.6 assists during March.

Outside of Anthony Davis, Reaves has been LA’s best player on the floor.

He will continue to be relied on while James recovers from his injury.

But even once James returns, the Lakers would be foolish not to give Reaves substantial minutes.

It is rare for undrafted players to have this big of an impact on a team.

But Reaves is showing many teams why they should have picked him in the 2021 draft.

If he keeps playing this way, Reaves looks primed for a massive payday this offseason.
