The Cincinnati Reds were one of six teams to make an important announcement on Monday morning, joining the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Atlanta Braves.

The announcement centers around the reveal of the new Nike City Connect Jerseys.

Over the past several years, teams have revealed their new uniforms and unique designs.

Each jersey typically has a few designs related to the city the team plays in and follows a certain theme.

The Reds have not yet revealed the new jerseys, but they did reveal the date that they would be coming.

On Friday, May 19, the Reds will be wearing them for the first time as they play host to the New York Yankees.

The Reds are the oldest team in MLB history.

Though we don’t yet know what the uniforms will look like, one could surmise that they’ll have a design to commemorate the fact that they are the original MLB franchise, founded before even the Yankees, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

With the Reds and Pirates both revealing their new uniforms this season, that leaves the Cardinals as the only team in the NL Central division to have not yet revealed their City Connects.

They will reveal theirs in 2024.

But the Reds were one of six MLB teams to make this special announcement on Monday.

Now, fans have a date to look forward to.

Not only will they be playing the Yankees, but they will also be sporting some new jerseys.
