20-year-old prospect Jordan Walker received some good news this weekend when he was called to his manager’s office.

There, Oli Marmol informed him that he would be part of the St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day roster.

Walker was overcome with emotion and hugged his new manager after receiving the news.

Fans in St. Louis are just as excited to see Walker in action as Opening Day approaches.

Walker put together a strong spring, hitting .286 with three home runs.

Ultimately, it earned him a spot on the big-league roster.

After receiving the news, Walker commented on what it means to him to have this honor.

The 20-year-old slugger stressed the importance of being able to show all of his tools, one of which is his power.

However, there was something else he wanted to show Marmol and the Cardinals brass.

Walker also stated that he wanted to show his character as well, and prove that when things don’t go well, he can be somebody they trust in those situations and somebody that won’t crumble under the pressure.

So far, Walker appears to have done just that.

Of course, the test will be Major League games and actual Major League pitching.

But the Cardinals seem impressed by what they’ve seen so far and are just as excited as he is to get things going and help carry the team back to the postseason.

He’ll be surrounded by stars such as Brendan Donovan, Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Willson Contreras, Tyler O’Neill, and Tommy Edman in the Cardinals lineup.
