The Pittsburgh Pirates pulled off an important victory on Tuesday night over the defending World Series champion Houston Astros.

After leading the defending champions 4-2 in the top of the ninth, the Pirates were forced to play a bottom half of the inning when Chas McCormick tied the game with a two-run double.

Fortunately, they managed to pull out a victory on Ji Hwan Bae‘s walk-off home run.

Ji Man Choi also hit a home run on Tuesday, which came in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

That gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead.

When Bae hit his walk-off home run, history was made.

It was the first time in MLB history that two Korean born teammates homered in the same game.

In the end, the Pirates improved to 7-4 on the season and kept pace with the first-place Milwaukee Brewers, remaining one game back of the Crew in the National League Central.

Pittsburgh has been off to a surprisingly good start this season, even after losing Oneil Cruz for several months due to a fractured ankle.

In his absence, Choi and Bae stepped up in a big way and helped lead the Pirates to a very important win over the Astros, who are off to a slightly rough start, having gone 5-7 in their first 12 games of the season.

It was a hard-fought game, but Pittsburgh came out on top in the end, while two of their stars made some important history.

The Pirates will try for a series win on Wednesday against the defending World Series champs.
