CeeDee Lamb is widely accepted as the Dallas Cowboys‘ top wide receiver.
During the 2022 season, Lamb had 156 targets, which was 67 more than the next closest pass-catcher, Dalton Schultz.
In just three seasons, Lamb has proven to be not only a top receiving option for the Cowboys but one of the best young receivers in the league.
Lamb’s rookie contract is nearing its end, and the Cowboys will need to quickly make a decision about his future on their roster.
A recent Sports Illustrated article highlights the Cowboys’ decision, saying “Dallas is both considering ramping up talks,” and later “and locking up that fifth-year option plan.”
If the Cowboys have any doubts about signing Lamb long-term, they can look at his highlight reel.
As this Cowboys fan points out, Lamb’s game against the New England Patriots provides the necessary context, showing Lamb’s dominance.

Lamb has proven himself extremely valuable to this team, demonstrated by his target share and on-field dominance.
Will the Cowboys end up signing him to a long-term extension?
If the Sports Illustrated article is any indication, this deal will eventually get done.
“When it comes to signing their own, the Cowboys are better than most,” highlighted authors Adam Schultz and Mike Fisher.
While Lamb has certainly made his mark on the NFL, the Cowboys will have other contracts to consider.
Per Schultz and Fisher, “Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons are due for new deals as well in the near future.”
Diggs, Parsons, and Lamb are all top-tier players at their respective positions.
Will the Cowboys be able to pay each one of them a competitive salary?
