The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a bit of a transition period, with the team recently losing superstar quarterback Tom Brady to retirement shortly after the end of the 2022 season.

Despite the massive loss of Brady, the Buccaneers may still be able to compete for a playoff spot in the NFC next season, as they’re arguably in the weakest division in the NFL.

In an effort to replace Brady, the team recently signed veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield, which will likely fill the void in the short term.

However, this team won’t be a force to be reckoned with unless there’s protection upfront for Mayfield, and the team could still be looking to fill some holes on the offensive line.

The team recently announced that Tristan Wirfs, who recently had his fifth-year option exercised by the team, would play left tackle, but that may not be the case, as speculation has started brewing that the team may be looking for help at the tackle position, according to Tom Krasniqi via 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.

Regardless of what the team does, it’s clear that they’re looking to protect Mayfield so that he can take advantage of all the talent on the receiving corps in Tampa Bay next season.

Brady may be on the beach somewhere sipping on margaritas, but the Buccaneers still have some of the most talented receivers in the game in Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Russell Gage.

If the team can give Mayfield some time to throw the football, the offense in Tampa Bay might be able to make some noise while competing for a playoff spot.
