General

• What are the benefits of signing up to be a MAL Supporter?
• Benefits include:
  • the removal of all advertisements on MyAnimeList (excluding Hulu/Crunchyroll in-video advertisements)
  • the ability to customize modern About Me themes
  • a MAL Supporter badge you can show off on your profile
  • the ability to set a custom forum title
  • double the number of favorites for each category
  • double the maximum number of ignored users you can set on the forums
  • the ability to change the colors of the status bars on your profile
• Can I enjoy the same advantages of the MAL Supporter subscription on both my computer and mobile phone?
• Yes, the MAL Supporter benefits apply to both the desktop and mobile version of MyAnimeList. Please note that advertisements will be displayed while you are not logged into your account.
• I am still seeing ads even though I signed up for the MAL Supporter subscription. What should I do?
• Please confirm your MAL Supporter status on MAL in your account settings.
  If your status is invalid due to cancellation, expiration, or payment failure, please sign up again to enjoy the benefits of being a MAL Supporter.
  My status is valid and I'm still seeing ads.
  We are sorry for the inconvenience. We will investigate this issue as soon as possible. Please fill in the inquiry form with the following information:

  • Date and time the ads appeared
  • URL of the page where the ads appeared
  • Whether or not the issue can be reproduced (Yes/No)
  • Screenshot of the ads (if possible)
• I became a MAL Supporter using PayPal. Why is the renewal period so short? Is it a bug?
• When you become a MAL Supporter with PayPal you are not immediately charged. The first subscription renewal date shown represents when your first month's payment will be made. If you cancel being a MAL Supporter before this first payment is made, your MAL Supporter settings will not be saved for 14 days.

Payment

• How can I update my payment information?
• You can update your payment details by editing your Payment Information in the MAL Supporter tab of your Account Settings.
  
• How can I change my payment method?
• In order to change your payment method you must first cancel your MAL Supporter subscription, and then sign up to be a MAL Supporter again with your preferred payment method.
  All features and customized settings will remain available for 14 days after you cancel your subscription. For further details please check the "Cancellation" section of the FAQ.
• How can I update my MAL supporter plan period?
• See "How can I update my payment information?"
  Note: if you want to change your plan from monthly to yearly or vice versa with PayPal, you must first quit being a MAL supporter completely.
  Any period remaining on your plan will be lost when you quit and you will not receive a refund.
• Will MyAnimeList retain my credit card information after I enter it?
• No, MyAnimeList will not retain any credit card information. The information will be held by Stripe, a payment processing company. The service is secure and safe as it is PCI DSS compliant.
• Which methods of payment are available?
• The supported payment methods are PayPal and credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards.
  Please be aware that only cards enabled for international transactions are supported.
  Please make sure to verify this before you purchase prepaid (gift) credit cards.
• Will more payment methods be available in the future?
• We hope to add additional methods in the near future. If you have a preferred payment method that is currently unavailable, please provide us with feedback here.

Getting started

• Signing Up
• You can sign up in the MAL Supporter page.

• Once I have signed up for the MAL Supporter subscription, when will I be charged?
• The subscription period is either monthly or annually. After the first month/year has passed, you will automatically be charged for the next month/year, renewing your subscription.
  For example, if you sign up for the monthly MAL Supporter subscription on January 10, you will be charged on that day and it will be active until February 9. If you take no action to cancel the plan, you will be charged for the next month's subscription on February 10.
• Can minors sign up for the MAL Supporter subscription?
• In accordance with our Terms of Use, you must be over the age of 13 to use this service.
• I received a message that there was a problem with my payment method.
• MyAnimeList was most likely not able to collect your payment because the credit card company rejected the payment. To resolve this problem, please log into your account and update or change your payment information. Once it has been updated, we will reprocess the payment and inform you as soon as the payment has been completed.
  If updating your payment information does not resolve the problem, please contact your credit card company.

Cancellation

• Can I cancel my MAL Supporter subscription at any time?
• Yes, you can cancel at any time, without any cancellation fees. You will continue to enjoy the benefits of your last paid month/year prior to canceling.
• How do I cancel my MAL Supporter subscription?
• You can cancel your subscription by editing your Payment Information in the MAL Supporter tab of your Account Settings.
  
• What happens if I cancel my MAL Supporter subscription?
• Once you cancel your subscription, you can still enjoy the benefits of being a MAL Supporter until the next renewal date. After that, the benefits will become unavailable.
  If you wish to remove all benefits of the MAL Supporter subscription immediately, choose "Quit Now" in the "Cancel Subscription" option after canceling the subscription.
• It has been less than 14 days since I cancelled but I cannot add more favorites.
• When you cancel being a MAL Supporter some features are still viewable, but you can not change the settings of any of these features. This includes the Forum Title, additional favorites, and additional ignored users.
• What happens to my additional favorites when I stop being a MAL Supporter?
• 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter you favorites above the maximum allowed for non-subscribing users will be removed. They will be removed from the bottom of your favorites lists. For example, if you have 17 favorites, favorites 11-17 will be removed after 14 days have passed.
  If you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again within 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your favorites will be restored.
  However, if you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again more than 14 days after you quit being a MAL Supporter the previously removed favorites will not be automatically restored; you must add them again manually.
• What happens to my additional ignored users when I stop being a MAL Supporter?
• After 14 days when you stop being a MAL Supporter, ignored users above the maximum allowed for non-subscribing users will be removed. They will be removed starting from the oldest add date to your ignored users list.
  If you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again within 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your ignored users will be restored.
  However, if you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again more than 14 days after you quit being a MAL Supporter the previously removed ignored users will not be automatically restored; you must add them again manually.
• What happens to my Supporter Badge when I stop being a MAL Supporter?
• When you stop being a MAL Supporter your Supporter Badge will no longer be shown on your profile regardless of your previous Profile Badge setting.
• What happens to my Profile Status Bar colors when I stop being a MAL Supporter?
• 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your Profile Status Bar color settings will be lost.
  If you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again within 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your color settings will be restored.
• What happens to my Custom Forum Title when I stop being a MAL Supporter?
• 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your Forum Title will be removed. During this 14 day period you can not edit your Forum Title.
  If you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again within 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your Forum Title will be restored.
  However, if you sign up to be a MAL Supporter again more than 14 days after you quit being a MAL Supporter the previously removed Forum Title will not be automatically restored; you must set it again.
• What happens to my customized About Me when I stop being a MAL Supporter?
• 14 days after you stop being a MAL Supporter your modern About Me customizations will be permanently lost.
• Can I get refund if I cancel my subscription before the renewal date?
• No, all payments to the MAL Supporter subscription are non-refundable.
• I cancelled my MAL Supporter subscription from my PayPal dashboard. Can I receive a refund?
• No, all payments to the MAL Supporter subscription are non-refundable regardless of cancellation method.
• I canceled my subscription, but I would like to sign up again. What should I do?
• You can sign up again using the MAL Supporter page.

Gifts

• What is a MAL Supporter gift?
• MAL Supporter gifts are unique links that activate MAL Supporter for the specified time period when claimed (e.g. claiming a 1 month gift will give the redeemer 30 days of MAL Supporter).
• How do I buy a gift?
• Gifts can be purchased from the MAL Supporter page, which can be easily accessed via the gift icon found on MAL member profiles, reviews and forum posts.
  Just like subscription payments, payment can be made via either PayPal or credit card.
• Can I buy a gift for myself?
• Anyone can purchase gifts regardless of their Supporter status. However, gifts cannot be claimed by accounts with an active MAL Supporter status. The current MAL Supporter period must end before the gift can be claimed.
• Are gifts I buy or send to other people tied to their accounts?
• No. Gifts can be claimed by anyone who has the link (unless they are already a MAL Supporter).
• How do I claim a gift?
• Gifts can be claimed by visiting the unique gift url and clicking the “Claim” button. The claim button will not appear for gifts that have already been claimed, have expired or are otherwise invalid, so be careful about where you post your gift links.
  Please be aware that claiming a gift while logged into MAL will never require you to enter any payment details or your account password.
• Do gifts expire?
• All gifts have a 5-month (150 days) expiration period from the time of purchase, regardless of the length of the gift.
• Can I cancel my gift purchase and get a refund?
• As with regular MAL Supporter payments, all gift payments are non-refundable.
