Synopsis

The appearance of "quirks," newly discovered super powers, has been steadily increasing over the years, with 80 percent of humanity possessing various abilities from manipulation of elements to shapeshifting. This leaves the remainder of the world completely powerless, and Izuku Midoriya is one such individual.

Since he was a child, the ambitious middle schooler has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. Izuku's unfair fate leaves him admiring heroes and taking notes on them whenever he can. But it seems that his persistence has borne some fruit: Izuku meets the number one hero and his personal idol, All Might. All Might's quirk is a unique ability that can be inherited, and he has chosen Izuku to be his successor!

Enduring many months of grueling training, Izuku enrolls in UA High, a prestigious high school famous for its excellent hero training program, and this year's freshmen look especially promising. With his bizarre but talented classmates and the looming threat of a villainous organization, Izuku will soon learn what it really means to be a hero.

The first season of "Boku no Hero Academia" introduces viewers to a world where superpowers, or "quirks," have become the norm. The series follows Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy with aspirations of becoming a hero in a society where abilities define one's destiny. While the show boasts a compelling premise and exhilarating action sequences, it falls short in a few areas, earning a 7/10 rating.

One of the standout features of the series is its diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique quirks and personalities. Izuku's determination and growth as he earns the power he's always desired are inspiring. However, the development of secondary ...

Mixed Feelings
Courage is not about not being afraid, it's about the strength to face your fears, swallow your doubts, and make a decision.

If that sounded generic to you, that's probably because it is. But generic themes can still be good if explored deeply enough in a narrative, especially if you manage to delve into somewhere less travelled. Unfortunately, this is not the case for Boku no Hero Academia in my humble opinion. But hey, animes can still be enjoyed without taking them so seriously. The problem here is that Boku no Hero Academia is an anime that does take itself quite seriously and as such ...

For the most part, My Hero Academia is a pretty typical shonen superhero anime. It's nothing that you haven't seen before; the characters have superpowers, the main character slowly becomes a god, most of the side characters are weak except for an occasional burst of Teamwork™ that the main character desperately needs during a moment or two of weakness against the evil final boss of the season. Yatta yatta, you know the drill.

What really makes the show unwatchable, though, isn't the dull reused plot, or the predictable progression, or the edgy antihero, but rather that the show takes the overused "pervy character" trope far beyond ...
